Christmas Cookies
It always feels a bit more like the start of Christmas after we have done the Christmas cookies. Along time ago, steven and I decided we would do just one type of cookie, Gingerbread. We do lots and lots of them. This year was declared the year of the "PERFECT dough". We did not get one single odd cookie, no legs falling off or squashed teddy bear. The kids started out rolling and then went back to studying for Finals which start on Tuesday. Steven and I finished up by ourselves |

Tapping into the collective brain resources
I'm hoping you can help me with a sticky situation around pop tabs. I work for a non-profit, and we have an annual training and enrichment day for our leaders and adult volunteers. There are often lots of crafts classes, and this year, someone offered to teach how to make crafts out of recycled soda can tabs, like this: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/6305/tote-ally-tab-maille However, when we started talking about collecting tabs to use for the class, one of our committee members pointed out, rather woefully, "Our church has been donating our tabs to the Ronald McDonald house for years! We can't take those away from them!" And I agree, we don't want to poach a significant source of revenue for another non-profit, but the tabs are a fairly unique item, and can't be purchased in craft stores. So - friends and brain-ful onlookers - any suggestions? How can I balance the demand for a unique and often-overlooked resource? A few thoughts have already drifted across (careened through) the hampster brain ( And they're hidden behind this cut )( Read more... )Siiiiigh. Whoever thought crafts classes could get morally complicated? Any advice would be welcome. Current Mood: conflictedCurrent Music: Inexplicably, Dark Side Of The Moon |

Caboose Cabins B and B in Spart Wis Caboose CabinsI doing my annual hunt for B&B for my parents Christmas present. My siblings and I get together and get them a B&B gift certificate. I came across this one and while it might not be my parents cup of tea, there are too many train geeks on my FL list for me not to post it here. |
